Mac Blog Software For Blogging In Mac OS

With the advent of inexpensive blogging, there has been an influx of software that allow a person to create his or her personal blog with just a click or two. While most blog users or bloggers use Windows, it is a common misconception that blogging is non-existent in the Mac world. Recent developments however have proved the above statement wrong, thoroughly so.

Currently, the most popular blogging tools for the Mac operating system are TypePad and Movable Type. Both of these types of Mac blog software have been introduced by Six Apart. Some other tools are Blogspot and Blogger and WordPress, the three of which are already pretty popular among the Windows operating system users. It is to be noted that by tools, one means that these are host websites where one can create one's blog. Two of these Mac blog softwares, TypePad and Blogspot are more advanced in that they provide the user with the necessary posting services so that the user can put up his or her blog on the web.

Following are reviews on some of the more popular Mac blog software.

TypePad

TypePad is a Mac blog software from the Six Apart company. It is said that this particular software is the largest paid blogging service in the world. Though that can be a slight drawback when compared to many of it's counterparts who offer it for free, TypePad covers this up with excellent service. One of the main advantages of this Mac blog software is its simplicity. It also has excellent extra features like a facility that allows for reader comments, XML syndication for RSS feeds and topic categorization among others. It also offers ways to share photos and videos, but then again, a sound knowledge of HTML is required and not all users can avail this facility. This Mac blog software offers three levels of service, Basic, Plus and Pro. The service offered is commensurate to the service price that is charged.

Movable Type

The fact that Movable Type has a free version that lets a user create upto three blogs, gives it an edge over other Mac blog softwares like TypePad. A paid version supports as many as five authors and unlimited blogs. This Mac blog software has been coded in Perl and has an open source code. Consequently, there are several good plug-ins for enhancing the site.

Blogspot

This Mac blog software comes without a price. Also, prior HTML knowledge isn't a necessary pre-requisite as with most of the other Mac blog softwares. The steps to creating a personal blog are as simple as creating an account, naming the blog, choosing a template and start adding content to the blog. However, to tap some of the advanced options, one needs to acquire a decent amount of HTML and coding.

Blogger

Blogger is identically similar to Blogspot in all but one aspect. While Blogspot provides hosting services, Blogger does not. That apart, both these Mac blog softwares almost the same facilities and features required to build a blog.
